Our changemaker for January ruled the silver screen for two decades across the Bollywood, Kollywood and Tollywood film industries. From there, she made her mark in politics and is now a member of the BJP. Meet Khushbu Sundar. Sundar made her debut in the Hindi film industry at the tender age of 10 and was featured in the song “Teri Hai Zameen Tera Hai Asmaan”. While she was at the helm of her film career in Hindi films, she joined the industry down south, proving her mettle with 150 films in Tamil and Telugu. Later, she and her husband launched their own production company named after her daughter, Avni Cinemax.
Being the favourite of the masses, she decided to join politics with the DMK in Chennai under Karunanidhi’s influence in 2010. She then entered national politics with Indian National Congress in 2014 as the national spokesperson. However, she returned to her home turf, Chennai, to serve the people and joined BJP.
Being a household name among Tamilians, she is worshipped by her fans even to this day and is one of the adored personalities for whom a temple has been built.
Khushbu Sundar was born into a Muslim family named Nakhat Khan in Bombay, Maharashtra. Her family gave her the stage name when she delved into the entertainment industry as a child artist.... A resident of Chennai for the last 36 years, she started her career in the Hindi film industry with the film The Burning Train. The song “Main Pariyon ki Shehzadi” made her a household name all through the nation. She continued to work in Bollywood until the 1990s with her last film with Amir Khan and Madhuri Dixit. She proved her mettle down South and clocked 150 movies. She joined politics with DMK in Chennai in 2010. She quit her affiliation with DMK after meeting Indian National Congress Supremo Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi in 2014. She joined hands with BJP in 2020 and contested in the 2021 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election against DMK’s Ezhilan N. She is the only Indian female celebrity number one ticket holder in 2017 and an honorary member of Richmond Football Club in Melbourne, Australia.Read more
